We’ve received concerning news from Pai District, Mae Hong Son, where the AQI has reached ‘Severe’ levels, posing a significant health risk. Data shows this air pollution crisis in Northern Thailand is an annual problem, causing numerous illnesses and deaths.
The primary cause is agricultural burning and forest fires—a regional issue affecting us all. It’s time to accept that the solution begins with us. We want to see strict law enforcement, coupled with incentives to change burning behaviors, and most importantly, an understanding that “we are the cause of these problems” and a collective effort to reduce overall consumption.
We want to see clear skies and clean air return to Pai. It is our shared responsibility to create this change.
