“26 Years of BMTA & Disability Community Progress – 1,520 New EV Buses, Every Single One Accessible!!!”

Since August 5, 1999, when Bangkok buses first introduced 4 wheelchair-accessible vehicles, to 2018 when 489 more low-floor NGV buses were added — this transformation came from 26 years of continuous collaboration between BMTA and the disability community network.

Now BMTA is bringing in 1,520 EV buses, with a mandate that every single one must be low-floor and fully accessible. Full delivery by the end of this year. This isn’t just new buses — it’s a renewed commitment to elevating equality standards.

Thanks to TOR data from our friends at BMTA. Bangkok has clear bus accessibility data, while other provinces still lack this information entirely.

Change doesn’t happen by standing still. I want to see everyone from every region join as one force pushing for accessible buses in every province — slow progress won’t catch up in time.

Help me understand: What’s the public transport situation like in your province?!
