Let’s look back at 10 major accidents over the last 3 years, starting with the pub fire.
Three days ago, a brewery fire on Lat Phrao killed 27; officials are investigating. Six months ago, a crane collapsed onto a passenger train in Sikhio, Nakhon Ratchasima, part of the Thai-China dual-track railway—32 dead. Eleven months ago, an unlicensed fireworks factory explosion in Mueang district, Suphan Buri killed 9. One year three months ago, a 30-storey building under construction collapsed from a 7.7 earthquake in Chatuchak, Bangkok—the only building to fall in the city—89 dead. One year four months ago, the Rama III–Dao Khanong expressway bridge collapsed, killing 7 and injuring 27. One year seven months ago, an elevated road and crane collapsed on Rama II Road, Samut Sakhon—6 dead, 8 injured. One year nine months ago, a school bus hit a truck and caught fire on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, running on CNG gas—23 dead, 20 were students. Two years three months ago, a crane collapsed at a Chinese steel factory in Rayong, in the EEC zone—7 dead. Two years six months ago, a fireworks factory explosion in Mueang district, Suphan Buri killed 23—same factory had a worker die in November 2022; 13 months later, 23 more dead. Two years eleven months ago, an illegal fireworks warehouse explosion in Su-ngai Kolok, Narathiwat—12 dead, 121 injured, 292 homes damaged.
Three names appear more than once. One contractor linked to 3 accidents and 128 deaths: Rama III bridge (7), 30-storey tower (89), train crane collapse (32). A contractor report card system launched in August 2025; four months later, the train crane collapsed. Fireworks—3 explosions, 44 dead total: Su-ngai Kolok warehouse (12), Suphan Buri factory January 2024 (23), another Suphan Buri factory (9). The Injury Prevention Division recorded 24 fireworks explosions nationwide in 16 years. People couldn’t escape—Santika Pub 2009 (67 dead), Mountain B 2022 (26 dead), Lat Phrao Brewery 2026 (27 dead). 17 years, 120 dead. 235 lives in 10 accidents over 3 years. Shocking.
