Over 100 European disability organizations are calling on the European Commission to propose three policy pillars for people with disabilities on May 6:
1️⃣ Pillar One: Guarantee employment and skills development
2️⃣ Pillar Two: Recognize skills of people with disabilities
3️⃣ Pillar Three: Establish a European accessibility agency
The employment rate for people with disabilities across Europe stands at 52.7% — far below that of the general population.
Meanwhile, Thailand 🇹🇭 has only 6.8% employment for people with disabilities. Despite having a quota law, the country still lacks budget allocation, skills certification, and an oversight agency.
Bangkok’s draft legislation is studying this European model, with hopes of advancing it before the end of 2026. The Thai Progressive Party proposed a national accessibility agenda in January. Social Security contribution rates were adjusted on January 1, 2026, improving disability rights. Thailand is working to strengthen disability rights — follow the progress ↗️
