963 people with visual disabilities joined together to sue a major online marketplace—and they just won at the Supreme Court. This marks the first time in the Asia-Pacific region that a country’s highest court has ruled that private companies have the same duty to make websites accessible as government agencies.
On March 12, 2026, the court ordered platforms to add alternative text for screen readers within 6 months. Companies must also take responsibility for content posted by third-party sellers.
