It’s official: the Nene Royal AGT winner moment happened, with Terry Crews announcing her name live in Pasadena, California, USA🇺🇸. The AGT season 21 winner is a 16-year-old from Phuket – the first Thai ever to take that title. For Thailand🇹🇭 this isn’t only pride: she is already a daughter of the whole world.
People call Nene the amazing little girl. Her road to AGT season 21 didn’t start in a fancy rehearsal room but at Naka Market – the “back-of-the-car market”, as Phuket people say – in Muang district, Phuket. There she carried the first guitar her family bought her for just 1,600 baht, busking on street corners and saving up for her own music lessons. In a home where her father earned just over 10,000 baht a month, she didn’t wait for luck: she got up and played every week with friends at the market, until her guitar sound carried far beyond it.
After the Nene Royal AGT winner result, she receives a US$1 million prize (about 36 million baht), paid yearly at US$25,000 (about 900,000 baht) for 40 straight years, or as a lump sum at present value instead. On results night she also sang Linkin Park’s “The Emptiness Machine” in front of the band itself, then joined hands with Mexican🇲🇽 rock band The Warning on “Kerosene”, and celebrity judge Mel B posted her praise for Nene after the show.
Pride flowed back to her hometown. Kajonkiet International School in Kathu district set up a big screen so friends could watch the final live, while Nang Kaeo Poolkerd, 88, from Ban Cha-uat subdistrict, Chulabhorn district, Nakhon Si Thammarat, sat watching the broadcast – and Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul sent his congratulations from the USA through Ms. Ploytalay Laksameesaengchan.
It isn’t only Thais cheering. The name Nene Royal America’s Got Talent became known around the world: news outlets from BBC to the Straits Times all made who won AGT 2026 their big story. And the first words she said to everyone were: “I’m speechless. Thank you, everyone.”
The gift from tycoon Dhanin Chearavanont is a Mulberry Grove The Forestias condo, given before the final and announced after she won, plus a scholarship to continue her studies. Now we wait for her Las Vegas show, her EP debut and her dream of a world tour. What she carried from Thailand is a guitar, a voice, her “ROCK STRONG” silk outfit and the Thai wai. She didn’t just win a trophy – she has been a daughter of the world since the second she lifted that guitar.
