This year, we received news of dangerous air pollution in Chiang Mai province spiking again. Every year, we hear this same story. The recurring problem has become so severe that children are experiencing nosebleeds—a clear sign that people are being heavily affected.
The numbers reflect the urgency: hotspot data from Chiang Mai and northern Thailand, as well as neighboring countries, clearly shows just how bad the air quality has become. The worsening air each year threatens everyone’s health, especially young children and those requiring special care.
The solutions we need: The government should already be implementing decisive measures, including coordination with neighboring countries to solve this sustainably.
