I would like to leave a few initial comments:
1. Standards for accessibility facilities
Compared with the past, the Universal Design work is reasonably good. However, I still find risk points in every project, such as tactile paving being laid in ways that may create danger, for example too close to trees or seating areas at bus stops.
Universal Design is delicate work that directly affects the feelings and experiences of pedestrians. It should be handled in detail and improved properly.
2. Obstacles on sidewalks
I understand that this involves coordination among many agencies and takes time. But this issue is very important. If sidewalks still have obstacles, they will ultimately remain difficult spaces for people to use as walking routes.
3. Construction standards
The construction quality still does not meet the standard it should. The central standard should be better than this.
4. TOR and contractor standards
The problems mentioned above must be addressed through the TOR. The TOR should define requirements, control quality, classify contractor performance, and develop contractors to achieve higher standards. In the past, the public has felt that Bangkok has been too accommodating and overly considerate toward contractors, which is very strange.
