Understanding Every Station by Hand and Ear – The Purple Line Now Has Tactile Maps

Travel is freedom, not fear — today, over 200,000 people with visual impairments in Thailand can finally experience what that freedom feels like. The MRTA has installed tactile maps with Braille at all 16 stations of the Purple Line, complete with QR codes for instant audio guidance. Shockingly, nearly 4,000 digital accessibility lawsuits were filed in 2024 alone. WCAG 2.1 is the global standard that enables people with disabilities to access websites equally. The U.S. has elevated it to mandatory law, similar to the EU’s European Accessibility Act. Help spread the word and support the media teams working for ourselves, our families, and…

These young people are incredibly capable, and we’ve all witnessed the inequalities in both school infrastructure and curriculum. These challenges persist to this day. The primary and secondary schools I once attended now have new buildings, yet these structures remain inaccessible to vulnerable groups, particularly those with mobility challenges. UNICEF data reveals that 38% of children with disabilities remain outside the school system. What’s concerning is at the secondary level — enrollment stands at 66% for boys and 55% for girls,…
